STR38 MOTORSPORTS ANNOUNCE GT4 AMERICA CHAMPIONSHIP ENTRY WITH TWO BMW M4 GT4S
Santa Ana, California - STR38 Motorsports is thrilled to announce their participation in the 2023 SRO GT4 America Championship with two G82 BMW M4 GT4s. The STR38 Motorsports name debuted as an expansion of ST Racing at Indianapolis in 2022, earning a pole position in the M2 CS Racing in TC America and a podium finish in GT4 America.
GT4 number #438, competing in the Am class, will be driven by the talented duo of Chris Allen and Robert Mau for the full season. Mau rejoins STR38, having competed for STR38 at Indy. The duo raced together in various other championships in 2022, and they are excited to take on the full season GT4 America challenge in the new G82 BMW M4 GT4. The #438 entry races with support from partners: Cannonball Storage, OVN and Sim Seats.
Car number #88, competing in the Silver class, will be driven by familiar co-drivers, Chandler Hull and Jon Miller for the Sonoma round. Hull and Miller paired together for the SRO GT4 America season in 2021, claiming a Silver class win at COTA. The #88 STR38 M4 GT4 carries sponsorship from OZIUM, Caza de Oro and 4505 Chicharrones.
"We are thrilled to be debuting two new BMW M4 GT4s in the SRO GT4 America Championship. We’re coming off a solid test event last week. It was a promising start, building our knowledge base - and see what transfers over from the outgoing F82 GT4 that served us well for many seasons, earning our team and drivers multiple championships.” said Miller. "We have an awesome team of drivers, mechanics and engineers. We are looking forward to the 2023 season, welcoming back some familiar faces behind the wheel. We’ve been hard at work since Indianapolis last year and it’s fantastic to be fielding our two BMW GT4s alongside our ST Racing M4 GT3 program for Samantha Tan and John Edwards.”
The SRO GT4 America Championship begins with official practice on Friday, March 31 with qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday April 1st and Race 2 on Sunday April 2nd. The races can be viewed live on the GT World YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@GTWorld

TC America
Chris Walsh, an active-duty Air Force Special Tactics Officer, in his first TC America outing of the season, made a sensational start to the weekend with pole position aboard the #38 BMW M2 CS Racing. Chris notched the quickest lap – a 1m 35.526s – more than three-tenths faster than his nearest rival, the reigning series champion.
Leading the field, Chris pulled a two-second gap before a full course yellow on lap 2 stacked the TCX field up. Chris withstood enormous pressure on the restart to maintain his lead, with an enormous late braking effort around the outside of T1 to keep the position. Chris’ race for the win was cut short by a drive-through penalty handed down after minor contact in T1 while fighting for the lead. While disappointed, Chris put his head down and set the 4th fastest lap of the race, earning him a 2nd row start for race two. Chris secured a hard-earned top five finish on Sunday, as the top 5 were glued together throughout the 40-minute event.
Chris Walsh, driver (#38): “I had an incredible time racing with STR38 Motorsports at the final SRO event of the weekend. We had incredible pace and the car was great, the crew and team did a phenomenal job giving me a competitive machine. I was very happy to capture my first pole position at this legendary track on my first visit here! Unfortunately, a penalty on Friday kept us off the podium and in Sunday’s race I got held up heavily in the turn 1 incident, I was able to battle back into a close battle with the top 5 running within a second of each other but only managed a P5 overall for today. I think we showed we are a team to be reckoned with and I am very eager to be back next year and contend for a championship. I’d like to thank my supports at Combat Control Foundation, Operation vetnow, Cobramotorsports and StepOne motorsports. Finally I’d like to thank Samantha Tan and Jon Miller for giving me the opportunity to represent the team this weekend.”
Jon Miller, STR38 Motorsports team manager: “Coming into the series at the season finale with new drivers and a new structure, there were many unknowns. I truly believe that the results we achieved were thanks to the experience of our drivers and crew, coming together to adapt and gel quickly to form something greater than the sum of our parts. The camaraderie and chemistry on the team allowed us to solve problems and find performance very quickly. I’m very proud of that and we look forward to continuing with the same formula as we move forward.”
